Case of the flu...

Still feeling ill and off work today so I thought I'd make the most of my time on the sofa! I've been checking out some of the online sales that have started pre-Christmas but haven't really found much worth buying...

I've found these denim hotpants at River Island:

They're now £20 down from £39.99. Great for wearing with tights and boots but not exactly a bargain.
Next up, also from River Island is these shoes that are only available in size 5. My size!

£30 down from £74.99. This is the sort of thing that I would buy but never find the time to wear.
And that's about it. Most sales don't start until Boxing Day and I won't be here then! Hopefully I will be on a plane to Alabama... I hope I get a chance to do a little bit of shopping whilst I'm there. Top of my list is some Lucky Charms cereal! I never really buy much in the sales anyway, so I'm sure it won't be a huge loss to not be trailing around West Quay shopping centre with millions of grumpy shoppers!

I might not be back now until the New Year.....So Happy New Years everyone!

Xmas Crafting!

Been a bit busy the last few days with working and Christmas present buying. The only present I have made myself this year is for my baby sister, Chiara. As I had bought the iron on Sukie transfers I decided to make her some personalised sleep suits. And here they are:

It wasnt' too hard to do with a little practice....the small letters on the white one didn't work too well as there wasn't much paper to get hold of when you are pulling the backing off. All in all, I was impressed and am now planning to decorate all sorts of t-shirts and things!

Christmas has just about arrived in our house with the tree going up. It's lovely and tacky and crafty with felt decorations from Accessorize and some collected ornaments such as our Disney Mickey Mouse ears from Disneyland Paris.

A week or so ago when it was snowing, I treated myself to a new hat. It's actually a kids hat (small head!) by Barts and I bought it at work on discount. Cute? I thought so...

You can just about see the collar of my aviator jacket! Cosy. The rest of the week will be spent preparing for the work Xmas party. Photos to follow....if they are suitable for viewing!

Is there anybody out there?

Wow, I'm so excited to have my first non-family/friend related follower! Thank you to Nail Daze! www.naildaze.blogspot.com  I hope she doesn't mind me posting her link...
This brings me to wonder if there is anyone out there who isn't one of my friends who has been reading my blog? Are you out there? I thought a good way to bring people out of the woodwork is to have a question and answer session! Is there anything you want to know about me? Post me a question in my comments box and I'll try and give an honest answer! I haven't had any comments yet so I don't know how easy it is for you to comment....if you have any difficulties, email me at girlfrommars79@hotmail.com and I'll keep a look out.
If any of my friends have any questions then I guess that's ok too! And because no good post is complete without a picture....

I bought a couple of shirts today from Hollister that were only £10.90 in the sale and this is the closest pic I can find of what they look like. You know the type. X

Nailed It!

Well, I still have no heating but I'm feeling a bit warmer today and have been a bit more productive. I've been experimenting with my new Models Own nail polishes that my mum sent me for my birthday! I was so excited when I opened the box and found that along with the 2010 nail colours collection, she had order me the pink lip balm, the lip and cheek tint and the mascara. All beautifully wrapped in tissue paper!

2010 Xmas Gift Set L-R: Beth's Blue, Nude Beige, Purple Grey, Jade Stone, Lilac Dream and Pastel Pink

Here's the Pastel Pink in action:

My camera would rather focus on the carpet....When I first got them, I painted each nail in a different colour but forgot to take a photo! The pink requires 2 coats unlike most of the others I tried but I usually do 2 coats anyway.
Here are the other bits I got:

Lip and cheek tint, Ballet Pink lip balm and Black Mascara
The lip balm is the yummiest thing I've ever tasted and leaves a nice, pale pink shimmer on your lips. The mascara is non clumpy but slightly harder to remove than my usual and the lip and cheek tint is a good, natural
colour for winter. Here's the rest of my Models Own collection:

As before but the 3 on the end are Gun Grey, Green Grace and Feeling Blue

I decided that the pink on my nails was a little too summery for this time of year so I tried out my new Barry M crackle glaze nail polish and was pretty impressed! It says not to overlap it which is near impossible but I found it worked quite well by just glooping it on!

And finally a couple of pics of my garden in the snow!

That's some pretty thick snow! Surprisingly it made the house feel a little bit warmer! Until next time...

The big freeze

My heating is currently broken and I can't get it fixed for another week......It happens to be one of the coldest weeks of the whole year and therefore my fingers are far too cold for typing!
I thought I would share with you one of my favourite blogs to read instead: it's www.seaofshoes.typepad.com
It's written by a gorgeous American girl who seems to have an endless supply of designer vintage clothing!  She spends her time dressing up in lovely, slightly eccentric outfits which only someone truly gorgeous can pull off.
At some point in the warmer future I'll share my new Models Own nail polish colours with you...
But for now I'm off to hibernate!

Another year older...

Back from London and still feeling quite knackered! We went to Camden market on the Sunday and there was so much to see!

Not the best photo as we got up early and I didn't have time to sort my hair!

So many great second hand shops in Camden

My whole trip was fuelled by my favourite Xmas beverage - Starbucks Toffee nut latte!

After Camden we went to Oxford Street as it was near the hotel and walked all the way down to Selfridges to see the windows. We had a lush dinner in Wagamamas and went back the next day for lunch!

Xmas lights on Oxford St.

Zara's rather strange window

Chanel's window in Selfridges

Wagamama's! (It's rice with miso soup and pickles)

This Selfridges window was made out of Sylvanian Family caravans with walkways connecting them!

Some unusual softies

Topshop Oxford St's beautiful window

Some of the window designs were more like theatre sets! They must have taken hours...
I didn't buy much in London - just the iron on transfers book below from Urban Outfitters. I wanted the outfit from the Chanel window..so chic!

Flowers!

More flowers!

Mmmmm cake...

Barry M crackle glaze nail polish, cupcake earrings and Sukie Iron on designs

My present from a school friend- retro chic!
On my actual birthday I did a bit of shopping in town then went for dinner with some friends. All in all a good couple of days! I can't post a pic of what my boyfriend bought me as I'm waiting for a replacement..(I was a locket but it wouldn't close properly!) And now, back to work for a few days....

Friday 19 November 2010

Off for the weekend!

Yay! Work is finished for the week and I now have 4 whole days off! On Sunday and Monday I'm going to London for some shopping therapy and Tuesday is my birthday. Good times.
I'm excited to notice that someone in Belgium has viewed my blog. I have international appeal! Can't imagine how they managed to stumble across my blog...
Well, as I have been at work this week and therefore wearing a rather unattractive uniform, I have no pics of my outfits to post so I'll go with some pics of new clothes that have appeared on my favourite fashion websites. Here goes:
First up is a lovely looking scarf on the Topshop website:

UGG Chestnut Eternity Sheepskin Knit Scarf £70

Ok, so it's a little pricey, but it looks soooo comfy! What else can I find?

Wing clamp £12.50

Also from Topshop is this Wing shaped bracelet. Well, I assume it's a bracelet...

New this week at Zara is this super cute suitcase:

Suitcase £69.99

Hard to tell how big it is from the website picture and unfortunately it's not leather but that means my vegan friends can buy it too!

That's about all for now. More to follow when I get back from London! x

Nail beauty

Hiya! I'm continuing my love of Models Inc nail polishes with some photos of my new colour - Grace Green. What a great name!
The ring in the second photo is one that I picked up in Primark about a month ago. It was only about £3. Apologies for the terrible photo quality, obviously evening light is not a good time of day to be photographing...
On my wish list today are the new Models Own nail art pens which only arrived on their website yesterday. They come in black and white and they're only £6 each. Unfortunately I dont get paid for another week... :-(
Here's a sneaky peek:

They look like so much fun!

Day one of many!

Welcome to my blog! I'll be letting you know what I've been up to and what I've been buying and wearing. This will also be a tribute to all the lovely fashion blogs I read and the items Ive been coveting!
Went into town today to do a bit of shopping and came across this beautiful ring which I will now be dreaming about:

Ring from River Island £12.99

They have a gorgeous selection of big, sparkly rings so I'd better get saving! I also found a beautiful retro style shearling coat in there. River Island is definitely my shop of the moment!

Brown shearling coat £89.99 from River Island.

The highlight of my month is that Starbucks have brought back their Christmas flavoured lattes so I'm trying to drink as many as I can before they disappear in January. My favourite is the toffee nut latte...

That will have to be all for my first post as The X Factor is on and I can't be missing that! Au revoir.
